Find Prescott Court Docket

Need a court date in Prescott? Start with the paperwork. The citation you were handed names the court, and that name decides where the Prescott court docket lives. Prescott Municipal Court keeps the city's ordinance and traffic cases. Anything under state law, from criminal charges to civil and family matters, sits with Pierce County Circuit Court instead. Once you know which lane you are in, pull up the right record with a citation number, a party name, or a circuit case number. Dates, pleas, and payment each take their own step. A docket entry can show a case's status, but the clerk should confirm the hearing and what response is due.

Prescott Initial Appearance Timeline

Prescott's official court FAQ says the citation date is the initial appearance. A guilty or no-contest matter may be resolved at that step. A not-guilty plea sends the case to a later pretrial. The city also says a written not-guilty plea received before the date may let the person avoid the initial appearance. That is a Prescott procedure, so the form and delivery instructions should be checked with the clerk rather than copied from another court.

Failing to appear is not a neutral choice. Prescott warns that the court may enter no contest and a guilty disposition when a person neither appears nor responds. A missed date can therefore change the Prescott docket even though no one presented an argument in person. Ask the clerk what was entered and what valid next step remains.

The Prescott Municipal Court

The official Prescott court source identifies the city's municipal record and contact route.

Prescott court docket municipal court information page

The captured page confirms why Prescott citations should not be routed automatically into the statewide circuit search.

Prescott Municipal Court hears citations issued by Prescott Police for traffic and non-traffic ordinance violations. The city lists ordinance actions involving traffic, building code, animals, and certain behavior or alcohol matters. Judge Patrick Eich and Clerk Rashel Temmers are identified on the official page. The office is at 800 Borner Street North, Prescott, WI 54021, and the phone is 715-262-5546.

Published clerk hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Prescott also provides an email route, appearance procedures, a not-guilty form, and citation rights and responsibilities. Confirm hours before visiting. The municipal clerk can explain Prescott procedure and the record held by the court, but cannot provide legal advice.

Prescott Pleas in Plain Terms

The words on a Prescott citation describe different responses. They should not be treated as interchangeable. The official FAQ is the controlling local source for how the city schedules the next event.

Initial appearance
The first Prescott date printed on the citation, not necessarily a trial.
Not guilty
A contested plea that leads to a later pretrial under the city's stated process.
No contest
A plea the court may use to resolve the municipal charge without an admission of guilt.
Pretrial
A later Prescott step after a not-guilty plea, before any trial.

A written plea is not the same as paying online. Keep proof of delivery and confirm that the Prescott clerk received it before relying on a changed appearance obligation.

Prescott Court Dates and Settings

Prescott describes municipal court as meeting one Tuesday each month, dependent on the judge's schedule. The date printed on a citation is the first key setting. Because the monthly schedule can change, verify the actual date and time with the Prescott clerk. A pretrial comes later if a not-guilty plea is entered. A payment deadline is not automatically the same as a hearing date.

DateThe Prescott citation date or later court date assigned by the clerk.
TimeThe time stated on the citation, notice, or confirmed clerk record.
LocationThe current Prescott municipal court location stated by the city.
JudgeThe municipal judge assigned to the setting.
Setting TypeInitial appearance, pretrial, trial, or another stated event.

Prescott Payment Has Four Routes

Prescott lists payment in person, through a drop box, online through HeyGov, and by mail. Mailed payment may use a check, money order, or cashier's check. The city says not to mail cash. The official page did not expose a stable field-by-field inventory for the HeyGov form or a current vendor fee schedule during research, so no field or fee should be guessed.

Prescott says payment is due within 60 days. Its FAQ warns that failure to pay may lead to a one-year license suspension, a warrant, or state collection activity. These are serious city-specific instructions. Confirm the current status and response with the Prescott clerk.

Prescott Traffic Tickets

A Prescott Police citation for a municipal traffic or ordinance matter follows the Prescott court process. Read the rights material and FAQ together. The rights document explains the citation and mandatory-appearance context; the FAQ explains the initial appearance, plea, later pretrial, nonappearance, and payment timeline. One document does not replace the other.

Not every amount should be assumed payable online. A mandatory appearance or vendor eligibility limit may require clerk confirmation. State-law criminal traffic matters can instead be filed in circuit court and appear in WCCA. The Pierce County traffic court records page explains that county lane in more depth. Do not use a Prescott municipal payment link to search for a circuit case.

Prescott Municipal Case Totals

The state municipal statistics report lists Prescott at 1,025 cases in 2022, 1,385 in 2023, and 1,019 in 2024. Wisconsin says these court totals are self-reported. They show the scale of Prescott municipal activity, but they do not identify an individual case and should not be turned into a rate or a claim about what share involved traffic.

A current Prescott lookup still depends on the specific citation, court, and status. Annual counts cannot answer whether a setting moved or a payment posted.

Where Prescott Cases End Up

Prescott Municipal Court has limited ordinance jurisdiction. State-law criminal cases, civil suits, family, probate, juvenile, and other circuit matters go to Wisconsin Circuit Court, Pierce County. A municipal judgment may be appealed through the circuit process described by Wisconsin courts. That change in level also changes where the public case information is found.

Use WCCA when the Prescott matter has become a Pierce circuit case. For the full circuit route, the Pierce County court docket overview explains case information, clerk records, and county access channels. Federal matters use the Western District and PACER.

When Prescott Search Finds Nothing

A blank payment search does not establish that a Prescott citation was dismissed. The number may be wrong, the obligation may not be eligible, the record may not have posted, or an appearance may be required. Check the citation and call 715-262-5546. If the paper names Pierce County Circuit Court, search WCCA and contact the circuit clerk instead.

Use the court name first. Prescott city citations and Pierce circuit cases have different custodians, identifiers, and public search routes.

Give the clerk the full citation number and appearance date. Ask only for current procedure and record status; a court clerk cannot advise which plea to enter.

Public Prescott Court Records

Request a Prescott municipal citation record from the city court. Search public Pierce circuit case information through WCCA and request official or certified circuit copies from Clerk of Circuit Court Kerry Feuerhelm. Wisconsin law favors access, yet confidential, sealed, juvenile, and protected personal information can be withheld or redacted. The public search is not the official judgment or lien docket.

Key rules:

Wisconsin Statute § 19.31 states the policy favoring broad government access.

Wisconsin Statute § 19.35 provides inspection and copy rights subject to law.

Wisconsin Statute § 801.20 addresses confidential circuit filings.

Describe the Prescott record with enough detail for the custodian to locate it. Ask about copy cost and delivery before ordering. Wisconsin public-records guidance calls for reasonable access and reasonable cost, but does not create one fixed response deadline for every request.

Prescott requesters should keep the citation number, date, and clerk response together. That record helps distinguish a city file from a later Pierce County circuit filing.
